Artist Bio
Associate Artist - The Clay Studio
Philadelphia. PA
I am a ceramic artist specializing in complex bottle forms and very large wheel‑thrown vases. My work centers on the relationship between form, surface, and presence, and on how clay can be shaped into pieces that feel both intentional and expressive.
Bottle forms continue to inspire me for their elegance and their ability to hold meaning beyond function. Each piece begins on the wheel and is refined through careful shaping, layered textures, and glazes that emphasize the movement of the form. Throwing very large vases is another essential part of my practice. The scale demands focus, physicality, and a close understanding of the material, and it allows me to explore proportion and gesture in a different way.
My approach blends traditional craftsmanship with ongoing experimentation. I’m always looking for new ways to push the material while honoring the history of pottery. My goal is to create work that brings a sense of presence and beauty into everyday spaces and invites viewers to slow down and connect with the form in front of them.
